About Studio Ad Astra

Who is Studio Ad Astra?

Hi there, I’m Hanka from Nijmegen. In my daily life I’m a scientist working as assistant professor in bioinformatics at the Radboud UMC Nijmegen. In my free time I teach and perform as a poledancer, aerial cube, aerial hoop, and tissue-artist. On my own personal site you can read more about me. Studio Ad Astra is my own small company that enables me to teach and perform professionally.

I have been a competitive gymnast for over 14 years. Since 2006 I have applied all of my experience in gymnastics into the field of poledancing. Since 2007, I have taught classes and workshops. Currently, I teach my own groups at the University Sport Centre in Nijmegen, private lessons and specialist workshops. Students have included all levels from absolute beginners to elite athletes.

I have performed and competed at a high level and won a few titles (Nationals, 3x Europeans, Worlds Best Pole Tricks, 3x Pole Art Champion, Pole Theatre, IPC PoleFit etc) My other specialty is Aerial Acrobatics which I have been performing since 2004. I’ve been doing aerial silks for a while and my newes hobbies are aerial hoop and aerial cube. Maybe you’ve seen me in Hollands Got Talent?

What is Studio Ad Astra?

Studio Ad Astra is my own company. On this site you can book workhops/private-classes and performances. If you can’t find what you are looking for then send us an email and we will see what we can do for you!

Why Ad Astra?

The name “Ad Astra” is a Latin phrase and can be translated as “to the stars” meaning to aim for the highest possible goal. At Studio Ad Astra we want to help you to make the most of your potential. For one person this can be a first spin on the pole, for someone else this is participating in a competition. Everybody is a star, everything is possible and Studio Ad Astra will help you to make it possible… Don’t hesitate, the sky is the limit!

Special thanks to….

Poledancing, my own company, all these things in the air, teaching, and besides that I am also doing a “normal” job. Not exactly your everyday situation! I could not live this life without some special people in my life. My parents, boyfriend, family and friends…all of them help me out sometimes whenever necessary. Thank you so much guys! Also, check out the website of my usual make up artist!
